Carolina Panthers trade target: Holton Hill – Vikings
This season promises to be a pivotal one in the career of Holton Hill. But his ambitions to become a prominent starter with the Minnesota Vikings have become increasingly uncertain throughout training camp.
The presence of rookie duo Jeff Gladney and Cameron Dantzler has only increased Hill’s urgency, especially when one considers just how well the duo has been performing during team drills. His experience should ensure a prominent role initially as the incoming college recruits find their feet. But that might not be the case for much longer.
There is a lot to like about Hill’s skill set. His progress was hampered considerably by an eight-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy in 2019. And by the time he was ready to see the field, it did not make that much of a difference in the grand scheme of things.
The Vikings recently parted with two draft picks to acquire stud defensive end Yannick Ngakoue from the Jacksonville Jaguars. General manager Rick Spielman might be looking to get some capital back before the season gets underway, and the Carolina Panthers would be wise to enquire about Hill’s availability given his upside.
He is versatile enough to play on the outside or in the slot. Hill also comes with some superb athletic traits which makes him a nice scheme fit for what the Panthers are trying to accomplish going forward.
