What are some of the biggest challenges facing the Carolina Panthers when they take on the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday in their Week 1 contest?

Excitement is building ahead of the long-awaited season opener for the Carolina Panthers against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

It seems like a lifetime ago that the Carolina Panthers took the field in a competitive environment. This year has been one like no other. But another big step on the way to normality will begin with the return of football this week and it is a big shot in the arm for league officials to reach this point.

This is going to be a rollercoaster ride for the Panthers and one that could come with its fair share of struggles early on. Having no warmup games will lead to some sloppy play from all teams as they acclimatize themselves to in-game scenarios once again and this could impact Carolina’s new-look roster more than most.

Their opening contest against the Raiders is one they can win if everything clicks into place right away. Jon Gruden’s men are aiming for a postseason berth in 2020 and they have some exceptional talent on both sides of the ball to make this happen.

Little is expected of the Panthers during the upcoming campaign. But that does not mean concerns won’t need to be alleviated as to what sort of direction the organization is going in under new head coach Matt Rhule.

Let’s take a look at the four biggest challenges facing the Panthers in their Week 1 encounter.
