Game MVP: Jeremy Chinn – Carolina Panthers OLB

The Carolina Panthers might have given up 31 points in defeat at the Buccaneers. But it was a much-improved showing on the defensive side of the ball. However, it wasn’t as if things could have gotten much worse following their lackluster Week 1 outing.

A large part of the Panthers’ improvements in this area of the field was Jeremy Chinn. The rookie second-round pick built on an eye-catching professional debut with another assured performance that only heightened expectations surrounding his ability to become a real difference-maker for the organization in the years to come.

Chinn was flying around the field with the youthful exuberance we have come to expect from the former Southern Illinois standout in such a short space of time. But his discipline in coverage and during run schemes came on leaps and bounds from his showing at Bank of America Stadium to start the 2020 season.

This enabled Chinn to get to the point of attack quickly and nullify the threat from the Bucs’ tight end duo of O.J. Howard and Rob Gronkowski impressively. His contribution was a primary reason behind the defensive strides made in Week 2 and it appears the sky is the limit for the do-it-all prospect.

light. Must Read. Who is on the Carolina Panthers’ Mount Rushmore?

The Panthers made a bold move to trade back into the second round to select Chinn at No. 64 overall. And it already looks to be a shrewd move from the powers that be.
