The Carolina Panthers will win the turnover battle.

Winning the turnover battle usually wins the game in the NFL. The Carolina Panthers and Saints are currently tied with a turnover differential of +1.

Carolina has to put last week’s three giveaway outing in the rearview mirror and avoid giving Drew Brees and Sean Payton extra opportunities. This could be a recovery game in terms of protecting the football as New Orleans is near the bottom of the NFL with only five takeaways this year.

What may be more important is Carolina’s ability to reward the defense by creating points off of turnovers. The Saints have only four giveaways this season, fifth-best in the NFL. As unfortunate injuries continue to befall the Panthers defense, leadership among the players available will continue to be paramount to this team’s success.

In addition, Matt Rhule has earned the respect of his players for trusting his coordinators to call the right plays as Tre Boston expressed to the media this week.

"“He really allows the OC and DC to call the games… you see coaches interfere sometimes…. and I think Coach Rhule does a good job of letting (the coordinators) do their jobs and (Coach Rhule) is the piece that winds us all together.”"

If the Panthers can make the most out of any turnover opportunities that come their way, it might just give them a chance of pulling off an upset and getting themselves back to a winning record.
