Is Teddy Bridgewater worth risking in Week 11?

Much will depend on how well Teddy Bridgewater responds to practice this week, but if he isn’t close to 100 percent then the Carolina Panthers would be wise not to put him out there on Sunday.

Bridgewater is highly competitive and will do all he can to take his place in the lineup. But the simple fact of the matter is that Carolina doesn’t have a significant amount to play for and if their free-agent signing suffers further complications it has the potential to have big repercussions for their long-term aspirations.

There is also Bridgewater’s injury history to consider. This was thankfully a problem to the other knee but once some doubt starts creeping in for the player when he comes under pressure, then it is going to impact his ability to distribute the football efficiently.

It would be a massive surprise if Bridgewater took the field on Sunday. The Panthers would probably go with Will Grier in his absence, who didn’t exactly prove his worth as starting-caliber when he was thrown to the wolves at the end of 2019 and it might be worth giving him a shot until their No. 1 option is fully healed from his recent knock.

This might be disappointing for the player and would no doubt hamper Carolina’s chances of knocking off the Lions. But the organization should be playing the long game and this seems like the smart way to go.
