Is James Bradberry the NFL’s best CB after leaving the Panthers?
By Dean Jones
James Bradberry has excelled since leaving the Carolina Panthers.
Life is full of what-ifs. Things one might have done differently. This definitely spells true for the Carolina Panthers regarding some of their offseason decisions ahead of an exciting new era under head coach Matt Rhule.
It didn’t take a nuclear physicist to figure out that substantial changes were going to be made following a period of stagnation with the Carolina Panthers. The organization parted ways with some prominent locker room leaders, lost Luke Kuechly to retirement, and even showed iconic quarterback Cam Newton the door after the arrival of Teddy Bridgewater in free agency.
However, one move in particular looks to be backfiring in a big way.
James Bradberry was one of the hottest free agents on the market after failing to come to an agreement regarding a long-term deal in Carolina. It wasn’t long before the offers started rolling in, with the cornerback eventually deciding on a big-money move to the New York Giants.
This already looks to be a shrewd move by the front office at MetLife Stadium. Bradberry has been an absolute sensation in 2020 so far that has left Carolina’s fanbase with some semblance of regret that the player was allowed to walk for nothing in the spring.
The Panthers have gotten some surprisingly good production from their cornerback unit this season. But Bradberry’s level of play has been on another level.
