Vinny Testaverde – QB

Vinny Testaverde will go down in NFL folklore. The colorblind quarterback overcame this problem to forge a successful career in the league which spanned an incredible 21 seasons and saw the player named to the Pro Bowl on two occasions.

However, few remember that Testaverde actually finished his career with the Carolina Panthers.

He was under center for seven games back in 2007 at 44-years-old. This was way before the likes of Tom Brady and Drew Brees made the shelf-life of an NFL quarterback lengthier than it’s ever been before.

In this respect, Testaverde was ahead of his time.

The signal-caller was way past the peak of his powers in Carolina, going 2-4 over his six starts. Testaverde completed 54.7 percent of his passes for 952 yards, five touchdowns, and six interceptions as the Panthers missed out on the playoffs with a 7-9 record after failing to come up with the goods down the stretch.

Something the 2020 team has had some problems with this season.

This was enough for Testaverde to being his time in the league to a close, and he can look back on his time as a professional with a tremendous sense of pride. It was eventful, to put it mildly. But not many players at the position throughout history have had his longevity.
