One potential complication

The Carolina Panthers are on this year’s HBO Hard Knocks shortlist. But there is a potential complication regarding their possible involvement.

This comes as a result of their standout series on Amazon Prime – entitled ‘All or Nothing’ – in 2018 which went down an absolute storm both with their own fanbase and the wider league.

Now, it is unclear as to whether this has any bearing on who is chosen for Hard Knocks.

However, three of the five on HBO’s potential shortlist have appeared on the Amazon docuseries over the last five years.

  • Arizona Cardinals – 2015
  • Dallas Cowboys – 2017
  • Carolina Panthers – 2018

If the decision-makers choose not to use any of these three teams, then it would put the Denver Broncos and New York Giants in the driving seat. Carolina might be in contention once again next year if they fail to reach the postseason, but this will be the last thing on Matt Rhule and new general manager Scott Fitterer’s mind regarding their preseason plans.

As Rhule stated, this is one of the most important offseason periods in Panthers’ history. Having Hard Knocks on-site might be an unwelcome distraction, but owner David Tepper’s desire to build the brand will guarantee any potential offer is accepted.
