What are the Carolina Panthers going to do at QB?

The biggest takeaway from the early stages of the offseason is how aggressive the Carolina Panthers are going to be in their hopes of landing a quarterback. Teddy Bridgewater‘s first year under center was inconsistent at best and it’s left little doubt that a more dynamic presence will be needed to get the organization back into realistic playoff contention.

This might be a little harsh on Bridgewater.

But standing around and waiting to see if the former Louisville standout can get better despite his limitations would obviously do more harm than good.

Carolina came close to a trade for Matthew Stafford before the Los Angeles Rams trumped their offer. There also remains plenty of speculation regarding a bold bid for Deshaun Watson, which would ultimately come with betting the house and losing both draft capital and some influential young pieces.

If this situation isn’t resolved by the 2021 NFL Draft weekend, then it’s clear the Panthers are going to select a signal-caller of the future with one of their early selections. Many analysts expect Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, and Zach Wilson to be off the board by the time Carolina is up at No. 8 – which might result in a big move to trade up or try and find a diamond in the rough once other needs have been addressed.

One thing is for sure, it would be a massive surprise if Bridgewater was under center for the Panthers when they take the field for their 2021 opener.
