Morgan Fox’s desire to succeed

Having the talent is all well and good. But it counts for nothing if there is not a significant work ethic to go along with it.

Considering how hard things have been for Morgan Fox to get himself to this point, it’s something that is sure to spur him on to bigger and better things on the Carolina Panthers. The organization did offer another unfancied player the chance to become a long-term starter during free agency last year that didn’t go to plan, but their newest arrival looks made of sterner stuff.

Stephen Weatherly freely admitted after returning to the Minnesota Vikings after just one season that he got a little complacent following his contract in Carolina. This sort of attitude played a big role in his failure to produce the goods and it was no surprise that the Panthers cut their losses with one year remaining on his deal.

Compare this to how humble and appreciative Fox was during his introductory presser.

"“Coming from a small school, and being undrafted, you appreciate what you got and what you were given, and it was cool to be in a position to have options, and a place that wants you because of the kind of player you are and the body of work you’ve put up. It’s new now that the body of work is coming to fruition, and I have a chance to come to a place where they want me, that’s exciting.”"

The attitude differences are night and day.

Fox won’t be taking anything for granted now there is a little more money in the bank. His competitive edge and desire to succeed will see to that, which is absolutely fantastic news for a Panthers defensive front that is loaded with playmakers that can make a difference.
