Robby Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR

To say Robby Anderson exceeded expectations after arriving from the New York Jets in free agency would be something of an understatement. The wide receiver made his presence felt from the first game and the Carolina Panthers got more than they ever imagined from a player that came into the organization with a reputation for being a deep threat and not much else.

Considering how accomplished Anderson is at getting open quickly and impacting the game all over the field, it’s evident he was criminally underused by Adam Gase with the Jets.

Their loss was Carolina’s gain and even though the former Temple star has one year left on his contract, it might be worth sitting down with the player to discuss a possible extension on this deal.

It would take a significant leap of faith on Carolina’s part, of that there is little doubt. But there is no denying Anderson has enjoyed a new lease of life since reuniting with his former college coach Matt Rhule and clearly loves playing for the Panthers, whose fanbase has taken to him instantly.

If Anderson replicates his 2020 production next season, his asking price is going to go through the roof and might be something the Panthers cannot afford. Extending him now takes this out of the equation and gives them some stability in an area that lost Curtis Samuel to the Washington Football Team in free agency.
