Will Parks – CB/S

  • 2020 team – Denver Broncos/Philadelphia Eagles

Getting some additional depth in the secondary is going to be of critical importance for the Carolina Panthers before competitive action begins in 2021. The team did pull the trigger on cornerback A.J. Bouye on a two-year deal that works out at $3.5 million per season, which might be worth its weight in gold once the Pro Bowler returns from suspension in Week 3.

Carolina has the option of allocating one of their top picks on strengthening this area of the field after securing the services of Sam Darnold. But if they want a reliable rotational piece that can play multiple positions, then Will Parks is a low-risk. high reward pickup that wouldn’t cost the earth by any stretch of the imagination.

Despite playing for both the Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles during the 2020 campaign, Parks did give a good account of himself in difficult circumstances. His most outstanding year came in 2018 where he gained a superb 74.0 grade from Pro Football Focus, so there is plenty to work with if the Panthers choose to go in this direction.

Parks can operate on the outside, in the slot, or even as a safety, which is something head coach Matt Rhule loves in almost every defensive recruit. The five-year player has carved out a solid career for himself after coming into the league as a sixth-round pick out of Arizona and is now entering his prime.
