Round No. 6 (Pick No. 193)

Bobby Brown III – DT (Texas A&M)

Getting some help alongside Derrick Brown will be crucial for the Carolina Panthers before competitive action gets underway in 2021. They decided to cut Zach Kerr and Pro Bowler Kawann Short ahead of time, leaving their interior defensive line relatively low in the way of depth outside of the former No. 7 overall selection, Bravvion Roy, and three-technique Morgan Fox.

Bobby Brown is an enormously gifted individual who has the potential to wreak havoc when in the right sort of mood. Despite being double-teamed a lot at Texas A&M, he still managed to make his presence felt and already has an NFL-ready body for someone at the position.

He doesn’t offer much in the way of pass-rushing. But the Panthers won’t necessarily need that from their next defensive tackle given the talent on their front seven.

Round No. 6 (Pick No. 222)

Chauncey Golston – DE (Iowa)

It appears as if the Panthers have more in the way of players who are capable of getting after the quarterback next season. However, if they are keen to go with the best player available then Chauncey Golston fits this way of thinking.

The Iowa prospect has a ton of likable traits that should transition well into an NFL environment. Golston has supreme power and a work rate that is hard not to love. So even though his pass-rushing skills need a little work for the player to become a three-down force, he represents a high-value pickup in the late rounds.

Round No. 6 (Pick No. 226)

Tre’ McKitty – TE (Georgia)

Getting more in the way of production from the tight position is going to be pivotal for the Panthers if they want to make strides in 2021. Greg Olsen’s departure to the Seattle Seahawks left a gaping hole that Ian Thomas failed to fill and whether Dan Arnold can do enough to be a true No. 1 at the position remains to be seen.

With that being said, this is the best player available draft and Tre’ McKitty could well be just that with their final selection. The prospect made a lasting impression in front of Carolina’s coaching staff at the 2021 Senior Bowl and even though he is still something of an unknown quantity, the upside from a physical standpoint is there for all to see.
