Which current Carolina Panthers players could be used as possible trade bait to get more in the way of 2021 NFL Draft picks later this month?

The Carolina Panthers could be after more in the way of draft capital after giving up three selections over the next two years to acquire quarterback Sam Darnold from the New York Jets. This compensation has seen just a sixth-rounder removed from their 2021 picks, but general manager Scott Fitterer made no secret of his desire to start building a competitive roster through exciting college recruits during his introductory presser following his arrival from the Seattle Seahawks.

Carolina did an impressive job of managing their salary cap in difficult circumstances last season. Some gifted players were brought in on the defensive side of the ball and although a couple of sacrifices were made for the greater good, Matt Rhule was more than clear when he said the Panthers needed another strong draft weekend later this month.

There is a chance Carolina trades back during the first or second round if they get a big offer from elsewhere. Much will depend on how the draft plays out in front of them, but Rhule and Fitterer will be flexible in pursuit of putting the organization in the best possible position to succeed.

Another possibility is trading away some current roster members for picks. Here are four Panthers players who could be on the chopping block if a solid offer comes in.
