5 best fits for the Carolina Panthers on Day 2 of the 2021 NFL Draft
By Dean Jones
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah – LB (Notre Dame)
One of the more surprising drops out of the first round came from Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, the athletically gifted former Notre Dame linebacker who was projected by most analysts to be a top-20 selection. Although this will be a blow to the prospect, once teams sit down and discuss their next options then his name should be one of the first called on Day 2.
Whether the Carolina Panthers will be in the mix for yet another defender after spending the No. 8 selection on Jaycee Horn is up for debate. They have an obvious need at tackle that has to take priority, but if general manager Scott Fitterer goes with the best player available mentality and Owusu-Koramoah falls into their laps, then he would no doubt be high on their shortlist.
Owusu-Koramoah possesses the sort of explosiveness that is hard not to love. He is a big play waiting to happen at the second level and brought his game on a significant amount during his final year with the Fighting Irish.
Although Owusu-Koramoah is considered a little raw in terms of his overall development, the player could only just be starting to scratch the surface of what he is truly capable of and represents a high-value pickup at this juncture.
