Qwynnterrio Cole – S (Alcorn State)

One of the real shocks of the 2021 NFL Draft was the fact that the Carolina Panthers didn’t address the safety position at any stage. There is the possibility of Keith Taylor moving back if the coaching staff feels he would be better suited to the backend. But considering his ability in press coverage, that appears unlikely.

Although someone like Qwynnterrio Cole wouldn’t be considered as a plug-and-play starter at the next level, he is a well-put-together individual that plays the game exactly how head coach Matt Rhule wants.

Cole emerged as a ballhawk at Alcorn State and showed enough in the way of physicality to assist well at the second level in run support. He is also a highly intelligent prospect that allows him to be around plays consistently and come up with the goods.

There isn’t much in the way of elite speed associated with Corn. The level of quality opposition in college is also something that’s clearly put people off and the prospect also needs some work when it comes to the technical aspect of playing the position.

With that being said, if the Panthers are looking for a practice squad project who could develop into a nice rotational piece, then they could look in his direction.
