Carolina Panthers LBs

  • Shaq Thompson, Denzel Perryman, Jermaine Carter Jr, Frankie Luvu, Paddy Fisher, Chris Orr.

In terms of depth, alongside of the safety position, linebacker might be the weakest. Shaq Thompson will continue to captain and lead this young and dynamic defense after restructuring his deal following a disappointing 2020 campaign overall.

After last year’s total failure to replace Luke Kuechly, the Carolina Panthers went out and got Denzel Perryman, who is a run stopping force who packs a punch and can be a very good player when healthy.

Perryman being healthy and productive will make Thompson and defensive coordinator Phil Snow’s life much easier.

With Jeremy Chinn moving to safety, Jermaine Carter should finally get some good opportunities to shine on the field. He is a super aggressive linebacker who fits holes and stops the run at a very good level.

The problem with this linebacker room is the depth.

Frankie Luvu was signed this offseason and is a versatile player who will provide good depth and special teams ability. Alongisde of Luvu I have the super productive 2021 UDFA Paddy Fisher and Chris Orr rounding out the linebacker room.

Look for Fitterer and Rhule to make further additions to this unit before training camp starts.
