New Carolina Panthers cornerback Jaycee Horn has drawn comparisons to a Pro Football Hall of Famer in a recent article.

There is plenty of excitement surrounding Jaycee Horn. The newest member of the Carolina Panthers’ cornerback room comes into the NFL on the back of a phenomenal 2020 campaign with South Carolina, where he shut down some of college football’s most dynamic weapons in the passing game on his way to becoming the No. 8 overall selection and the first defensive player to come off the board.

Horn comes from good stock with his father Joe Horn being a former Pro Bowl wide receiver, with his athleticism, aggressiveness, and competitive edge something that is sure to go down well both in the field and within Carolina’s locker room. This should also solve the Panthers‘ problems in press coverage last season, which was further aided by the arrival of Keith Taylor in the fifth round.

There were some who were looking for the Panthers to take Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields after he dropped into their laps. However, considering that the team acquired Sam Darnold via trade from the New York Jets, the possibility of this was remote at best.

Whether this will prove to be the right call or not remains to be seen. One thing that cannot be disputed is Horn’s potential to become a real difference-maker at the next level and although rookie corners tend to go through some early struggles, the ceiling is incredibly high.

And, according to one writer at FanSided‘s NFL Spinzone, his style of play mirrors that of a Pro Football Hall of Famer.
