Carolina Panthers at Dallas Cowboys

  • Potential matchup – Amari Cooper

This is arguably the hardest game facing the Carolina Panthers over the first month of the 2021 season, depending on which Dallas Cowboys turn up. Everyone’s preseason darlings are generating a lot of media exposure once again – to nobody’s surprise – but this has almost never been matched by making their talent count where it matters most – on the field.

The impending return of Dak Prescott under center and some outstanding weapons on offense has people lauding their chances once again. But if head coach Mike McCarthy cannot get it done and secure a postseason spot in his second season, the pressure will be on.

Jaycee Horn will have his hands full at AT&T Stadium in Week 4 against Amari Cooper, who is a dynamic outside weapon who can change the landscape of any game providing he is in the mood. The wideout was acquired via trade from the Las Vegas Raiders and although he does tend to go missing on occasions, the talent is there for all to see.

An important element to this battle from Horn’s perspective is preventing Cooper from generating early momentum. The former Alabama stud is a confidence-driven receiver and if things don’t go his way during the opening exchanges, he has a tendency to go into his shell and become a non-factor.

It will take more than stopping Cooper to prevent the Cowboys from putting up points. But it wouldn’t be a bad place to start and it might be another big feather in Horn’s cap during his initial transition to the next level.
