Yetur Gross-Matos – Carolina Panthers DE

Big things are expected from Yetur Gross-Matos in 2021, there is no getting away from it. The defensive end showed some tremendous promise as a rookie despite a spell on the COVID-19 list and injury problems restricting his ability to make a bigger impression. But more will be required providing he can stay healthy during the campaign.

Gross-Matos has a lot going for him. He is explosive off the block and generates pressure well in opposing backfields, with his contribution really coming on strongly down the stretch that only enhances expectations surrounding his leap in Year 2.

There will be extra competition for places on the edge thanks to the signings of Hasson Reddick and Morgan Fox in free agency. This should give Gross-Matos an added sense of urgency and the player himself has been working hard this offseason to make some strides.

If Gross-Matos can remain injury-free, it’s going to help the Carolina Panthers potentially become one of the league’s best units at generating pressure. Having Brian Burns, Derrick Brown, and Reddick commanding attention should enable plenty of good opportunities to put up solid numbers either from a starting role or a vital member of the pass-rushing rotation.
