Carolina Panthers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

This is normally the time when starters are rested or used incredibly sparingly to save their energy for the real thing and the start of the 2021 season. The Carolina Panthers won’t be risking anybody set to play a big role in their plans, so it’s the perfect chance for those looking to catch the eye one final time in a bid to win a place on the roster or the practice squad.

These players are usually forgotten in the grand scheme of things. But they are all fighting for their respective careers in some cases, so the urgency in games like this is noticeable.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are the opposition, who will no doubt be doing the same in terms of roster rotation. It’s hard to believe looking back that Mike Tomlin’s men began the 2020 season at 11-0 considering the injury problems that befell them, although this did come back to haunt the team when it mattered most.

This might be the final season we see legendary quarterback Ben Roethlisberger under center in Pittsburgh, so the Steelers won’t want things to end on a sour note for the signal-caller if they do choose to go in a different direction next spring.

A period of transition is sure to be upcoming in Pittsburgh once Big Ben departs. But they can rest safe in the knowledge they have one of the league’s best head coaches steering them through it in Tomlin.
