4 biggest winners from the Carolina Panthers 2021 offseason so far
By Dean Jones
Joe Brady – Carolina Panthers OC
Sam Darnold’s fate will ultimately determine how far the Carolina Panthers will go in 2021. However, the signal-caller couldn’t have landed in a better position providing the talent is there and his confidence isn’t past the point of no return.
There is an abundance of weapons in the passing game for the quarterback to call upon and in Joe Brady, Darnold now has a progressive offensive mind that can put him in the best possible position to succeed.
Brady is heading into his second year calling plays at the next level. He built up his reputation enough to get a number of head coaching jobs this offseason without getting an offer, meaning the Panthers benefit from one more season with their offensive coordinator before the vultures come swooping once again in 2022.
If Brady can turn Darnold’s career around, then he’s almost guaranteed to be a head coach next year. Carolina brought in some dynamic players in the draft and also got their hands on a productive tight end in Dan Arnold who is already familiar with the scheme to further assist the play-caller in his bid to turn the Panthers into a prolific unit.
The offensive line needs to make further strides – especially in pass protection. Providing they can do this, then this offense has the potential to be special if Darnold can outperform the level we saw from Teddy Bridgewater last time out.
Brady has a significant part to play.
He will have learned a lot from his opening campaign in the role. Adjustments need to be made, but Brady could benefit most from the team’s offseason moves so far.
