4 emerging alphas from Carolina Panthers OTAs in 2021

Sam Darnold – Carolina Panthers QB
All eyes were on Sam Darnold as he took the field for the first time as a member of the Carolina Panthers. There are some high expectations on his shoulders after the organization brought him in via trade from the New York Jets, so it’s imperative he makes his presence felt.
Darnold was able to do this throughout OTAs, which drew praise from Matt Rhule and Christian McCaffrey. The running back’s comments regarding the USC product’s command of the huddle and being unafraid to put his foot down when needed is especially pleasing for someone that is experiencing his first few days of practice with the team.
This assertiveness might not seem like much. But it is a huge way to win around those on the roster who might be a little skeptical about Darold and what he could possibly bring.
Carolina picked up Darnold’s fifth-year option, which was expected considering they gave up three draft selections to get him from the Jets. There is also a great opportunity for the signal-caller to lead his new team to some wins during a favorable early part of the 2021 schedule.
Everything rests on Darnold proving he has the talent to get the most out of what’s around him in Carolina. If he can make a better go of things, then the potential on this roster is unlimited if the offensive line also holds out.
It was a great start for Darnold and a solid foundation from which to build a possible road to redemption.
