4 things that must change for the Carolina Panthers in 2021
By Dean Jones
Improve pass protection
One area that remains a real concern for the Carolina Panthers is on their offensive line. Not much was done to improve this group during the offseason and it remains to be seen just who will be starting at other positions alongside stud right tackle Taylor Moton and center Matt Paradis.
There are plenty of expectations on the shoulders of Brady Christensen, who could be a Day 1 starter at left tackle after the Panthers moved up in the third round to take the BYU prospect. His protection at the college level was nothing short of exceptional and if this can make a smooth transition to the pros, Carolina will have their answer on the blindside.
On the interior is where many questions remain.
The Panthers brought in Deonte Brown, David Moore, Pat Elflein, and Cam Erving as well as bringing back John Miller, so it will be interesting to see who gets the upper hands through training camp to earn prominent places in the lineup.
Improving pass protection is going to be absolutely critical for quarterback Sam Darnold and if things continue to trend on a downward curve, it’s going to be another long season in Carolina.
This would be nothing short of a disaster for the organization and one that has the potential to slow down their current rebuild considerably.
