Brian Burns wants to be great

It’s all well and good having all the talent and athletic skills in the world. But that counts for nothing if a player does not want it enough.

Time and time again across the league we see individuals set for big things simply fail to meet expectations due to suspect character or a lack of work ethic. Thankfully for the Carolina Panthers, Brian Burns does not fall into either category.

Burns wants to be great and takes the responsibility of being a leader of Carolina’s defense very seriously. His hard work during the previous offseason was a further example of this and providing this trend continues in the coming years, a prolific career could be in the offing.

The defensive end has a strong support system around him led by his brother and former Panther Stanley McClover. This keeps him motivated and humble despite the obvious accolades that will be coming his way sooner rather than later.

Following in the footsteps of someone like Julius Peppers into Panthers’ folklore is a lofty goal to aim for.

However, if anybody is going to achieve this feat, it will be Burns.

The Panthers will be relying on their star edge rusher to enter the double-digit sack category in 2021 and provide the sort of leadership that was evident last time around. This is a challenge that Burns is sure to relish and the best is yet to come from a player with the world at his feet.
