Denzel Perryman – Carolina Panthers LB

Denzel Perryman just looks the part.

And he might be the answer to the Carolina Panthers’ prayers in 2021.

The linebacker was signed in free agency after a successful spell with the Los Angeles Chargers that might have been even better had injuries not got in the way. Providing those problems are now a thing of the past, there is every chance Perryman can transform the team’s fortunes at the second level and become the successor to Luke Kuechly in the process.

That is a lofty bar to aim for, and it’s unrealistic to expect Perryman to provide the level of impact Kuechly gave the Panthers during a glittering eight-year career with the franchise.

However, his physicality, leadership, and athleticism are already fitting in extremely well.

Perryman’s personality is also something that’s drawn praise during OTAs, which is another positive factor that shouldn’t be overlooked.

If this translates to production on the field when it counts, then the Panthers will have conjured up a shrewd bit of business within one of their biggest positional needs this offseason.

There is a long way to go and plenty can go wrong between now and Week 1. But Perryman couldn’t have made a more impressive start to life in Carolina.
