Brady Christensen – Carolina Panthers OT

The Carolina Panthers have a nice conundrum on their hands with Brady Christensen. The third-round pick out of BYU is highly thought of by the coaching staff – who traded up to acquire the offensive lineman – but just where he will slot into the lineup is still undecided.

Christensen’s production protecting Zach Wilson’s blindside in college was exemplary. However, there are concerns surrounding his arm length at the next level, and the standard of competition he’ll be going up against will increase considerably in the pros.

Matt Rhule was seen discussing Christensen in the incredible Panthers Confidential documentary, detailing his third-round grade at tackle but a second-round mark when it came to playing guard.

This is an area where the Panthers also need help, especially in pass protection. But the problem is they don’t have much in the way of quality protecting the edge opposite Taylor Moton if they eventually decide to put Christensen on the interior.

Preseason will be a fantastic chance to use the rookie at both positions and see how he gets on.

There isn’t expected to be a bedding-in period for Christensen considering he’ll be 25 years old just a few short weeks into the season, so Carolina needs to make a decision and stick to it in order for the player to hit the ground running.

Christensen will gain a tremendous amount from having three preseason games before Week 1 and if he transitions smoothly, expect him to start in some capacity.
