What trade offers could the Carolina Panthers make if they decide to go back in for quarterback Deshaun Watson?

The Carolina Panthers got their potential quarterback of the future in Sam Darnold after an aggressive search for an upgrade on Teddy Bridgewater this offseason. They gave up three draft picks to secure the signal-caller from the New York Jets, but it remains to be seen whether the No. 3 overall selection in 2018 can make a better go of things in a different environment.

This is the opportunity Darnold has been waiting for. He now has a wealth of options in the passing game, Christian McCaffrey alongside him in the backfield, and a progressive coaching staff that has full belief in his ability to lead the Panthers back to prominence.

However, the jury is still out as to whether Darnold can meet expectations. His time at MetLife Stadium was littered with individual errors and if the same happens in Carolina, it won’t take long for the natives to get restless.

If things don’t go according to plan, then it’s back to the drawing board for the Panthers.

And one man could be at the forefront of their minds once again.

Carolina made no secret of their desire to land Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans this offseason before some serious legal matters surfaced. This has thrown into question any potential move away from the organization for the former Clemson star, although it’s something he is reportedly still keen on.

The Texans have all but admitted defeat after signing Tyrod Taylor in free agency and drafting Davis Mills in the third round. Watson’s issues need to be resolved first, but team owner David Tepper was “all-in” on getting the player to Carolina before things took a sour turn.

So much so, that Tepper and the Panthers took one last look at Watson’s situation before pulling the trigger on Darnold.

Now that the landscape has changed somewhat, here are four potential trade offers the Panthers could make if they go back in for Watson at some stage.
