Carolina Panthers at Dallas Cowboys (Week 4)

It may come as a bit of surprise, but the Carolina Panthers haven’t played a game at the Dallas Cowboys since Thanksgiving of 2015.

In fact, the Panthers have only played the Cowboys once since that game, at 16-8 win at home in 2018.

Between the regular season and playoffs, “America’s Team” used to be almost an annual opponent for the Panthers from 1997-2009, but Carolina and Dallas only faced off three times in the 2010s.

This season, Matt Rhule’s men will have 10 days rest and only 239 miles to travel to take on the Cowboys at “Jerry’s World” following their Week 3 matchup at the Houston Texans, which they should be heavily favored to win.

They may not be familiar foes, but the Cowboys’ large following means a lot more eyes than usual will be on this game.

With limited opportunities to play in front of a national TV audience, this could be a pivotal game for the Panthers to earn respect. Week 4 will also be a key point in the season to fairly assess parts of the team like new quarterback  Sam Darnold, the offensive line, and the secondary.

This game also kicks off a stretch of important NFC games that the Panthers have to win to be a viable playoff team.

Carolina is 5-9 all-time against the Cowboys. That includes a 3-5 record at home and 2-4 on the road with a 2-0 success rate in the playoffs.

Their last game at Dallas was an impressive 33-14 showing on Thanksgiving and it also happened to be one of Luke Kuechly’s best performances as a Panther.
