By Dean Jones
Who are the five greatest Carolina Panthers players to never make an NFC Championship game with the franchise?
The Carolina Panthers are still awaiting their first Super Bowl after 26 years. It’s been a rollercoaster ride for the team’s loyal fanbase, of that there is little doubt. But just how much longer they’ll have to wait in order to hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy remains to be seen.
That’s not to say there haven’t been some memorable playoff runs along the way. The Panthers have reached four NFC Championship games since their inception, winning two on their way to losing both appearances to claim an elusive first ring for the organization.
The championship games were recorded in these years.
- 1996
- 2003
- 2005
- 2015
At least from the outside looking in, the Panthers appear some way off reaching this target currently. This got us thinking about prominent players throughout the team’s history that never quite ended up making it to an NFC title contest. Here are the five best we selected, which also includes someone from the current roster.
