Marquis Haynes – Carolina Panthers DE/OLB

The Carolina Panthers now have an embarrassment of riches on their front seven. Something that has the scope to make this unit one of the league’s most explosive in 2021.

Although there were some notable arrivals, it would be a surprise if Marquis Haynes wasn’t still an important part of the rotation after what he showed last season.

At a time when generating pressure was difficult for Carolina unless it was coming from Brian Burns, Haynes really caught the eye during his time on the field. The former Ole Miss standout secured a career-high four sacks from just 37 percent of the team’s defensive snaps, meaning there might be even more to come with additional playing time.

Whether he’ll get that or not is up for debate.

But if Haynes can continue to show improvement on the final year of his deal, putting a tender on him and seeing if a team takes the bait could be a shrewd bit of business.

If nobody wants to pay the compensation needed, then Haynes will remain on the roster. Not the worst situation in the world by any stretch of the imagination.

However, should another organization decide to bring him on board, then it would give the Panthers a valuable draft pick they could put to good use.
