Christian Miller – Carolina Panthers OLB

There is plenty of intrigue surrounding the return of Christian Miller after he opted out of the 2020 campaign due to COVID-19 health concerns. The former Alabama star made some encouraging strides as a rookie in a limited role, so he could become a contributor for a defense that is loaded with talent.

The Carolina Panthers made some eye-catching additions during free agency and the 2021 NFL Draft. Phil Snow’s unit developed encouraging last season and if the new recruits can make their presence felt, big things could be in their future.

Miller has a huge task awaiting him in the coming weeks. He has to integrate himself fully into the locker room once again and also show enough on the field to convince the coaching staff he is worthy of being part of their plans.

Matt Rhule and Scott Fitterer weren’t around when Miller was drafted, so they’ll be getting a good look at the player in person for the first time this summer.

Cutting someone like Miller would be a surprise.

But it’s worth remembering the additional options available to them on the front seven – all of whom played last season. There is also no emotional attachment from the coaching staff’s point of view and cutting Miller comes with a dead-cap figure of just $184,254.
