5 Carolina Panthers players set to shock the NFL world in 2021
By Dean Jones
Which Carolina Panthers players could be set to shock the NFL world during the 2021 season?
It’s hard to predict which way things will go for the Carolina Panthers in 2021. The team is loaded with exciting talent in almost every positional group, so if the coaching staff also makes some adjustments in the second year, it could end up with some notable progression during the campaign.
Matt Rhule’s first year as Carolina’s head coach came with a significant period of adjustment. The introduction of general manager Scott Fitterer only increased the change in direction where the Panthers are concerned this offseason.
Adopting a wait-and-see approach – at least initially – might be the best way to go. But that’s not to say there aren’t some real forces on the roster that could propel the Panthers to far exceed expectations if everything clicks into place right away.
With this in mind, let’s take a look at five Panthers players who could be set to shock the NFL world during a pivotal 2021 season for the franchise.
Player No. 1
Donte Jackson – Carolina Panthers CB
Everything is in position for Donte Jackson to have an incredible year in 2021.
The cornerback has some real talent around him in the secondary – far stronger than at any stage of his career. Providing there are no more problems on the injury front, Jackson should finally emerge as the elite player Carolina hoped he would be when they selected the LSU product in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Jackson’s form during the 2020 run-in was incredibly pleasing. If he can take this positive momentum into the upcoming campaign, the sky is the limit.
This would also see his demands rise. Jackson is heading into the final year of his deal and if everything goes right, will make himself some major money in 2021.
