The evolution of Brian Burns must continue

Entering the potentially elite category was something Brian Burns managed to accomplish in 2020. But there is much work still to do.

Burns has potential greatness in his sights next season. The Carolina Panthers put some nice pieces around him this offseason and if the Florida State product has also made improvements, then the sky is the limit for a player with the world at his feet.

There is nothing to suggest Burns is not more than capable of some lofty expectations. His explosiveness flying off the edge is a sight to behold and he is now the complete defensive end thanks to his progression in run support.

Having fans back in the stands should help, as should the presence of Haason Reddick on the opposite side of the line. Burns will be the catalyst behind everything good in Carolina next season and beyond, so setting the right tone at training camp is hugely important.

The evolution of Burns into a stud edge rusher who leads from the front is something the Panthers want to see at camp. A player’s third season is when we see what they are truly capable of, so the 2019 first-round pick could enter a completely different stratosphere next time around.
