What are the worst contracts being paid by the Carolina Panthers during the 2021 season?

One doesn’t have to look far to figure out just where things have gone wrong for the Carolina Panthers in recent years. Some questionable draft selections outside of the first round and the previous regime – Marty Hurney to be exact – giving out contracts way past a player’s capabilities immediately spring to mind and something the team is still counting the cost of this season.

Thankfully, those in power at the time these choices were made are no longer around.

The Panthers have far more in the way of structure and purpose following the arrival of general manager Scott Fitterer from the Seattle Seahawks. This has installed a new sense of belief across the franchise in a very short space of time.

A welcome shift in direction after years of languishing in mediocrity.

Considering the financial constraints Carolina and other teams across the league were under this offseason with a reduced salary cap, they deserve a tremendous amount of credit for making the necessary moves to give them a fighting chance of making some real noise this time around.

Of course, Carolina is still paying for some grave mistakes of days gone by. But there is nothing the franchise can do about this now other than move forward.

With this in mind, here are the four worse contracts Carolina is dealing with this season.
