What are some keys to victory for the Carolina Panthers as they gear up for a Thursday Night Football clash at the Houston Texans in Week 3?

The Carolina Panthers certainly shocked the NFL world with their dismantling of what some believed was the best team in football in Week 2. This has “Big Mo” chugging along in their direction and has sent confidence through the roof.

But sometimes this can turn into overconfidence and pride cometh before a fall. So what do the Panthers need to do in Week 3 to keep this momentum going?

I will admit to being part of the group that was concerned for the Panthers going into Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints. Boy, I was wrong.

After 305 passing yards and two picks of Jameis Winston, the Panthers walked away with a 26-7 victory at home in front of a rocking crowd. The Saints got a taste of their own medicine and it was glorious to watch their faces. There wasn’t any sugar to help the medicine go down this time.

Players will often minimize the importance of one game, especially after a loss. However, it’s always a bit sweeter to beat a longtime rival at home.

The only thing better is to do it in their house and hear that crowd get silent.

But this is a new week and there is a new opponent to plan for on a short turnaround.

That opponent is a 1-1 Houston Texans team that has looked impressive in the early going before disaster struck in the second quarter against the Cleveland Browns with Tyrod Taylor pulling up limp with a hamstring injury.

This has the opportunity to be one of those “gotcha” games if the Panthers play down to their opponent and don’t take rookie Davis Mills seriously.

With that said, here are four keys to victory for the Panthers at NRG Stadium.
