3 Panthers position groups that must step up at the Giants in Week 7
Carolina Panthers WRs
Remember the 1986 film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off when Ben Stein continually repeats, “Bueller” during class attendance waiting for a response?
That I how I felt about the Carolina Panthers wide receiver corps outside of D.J. Moore.
One cannot be sure what happened to Robby Anderson following his sideline outburst in Week 5. He is a passionate athlete who has a high football IQ, but his play against the Minnesota Vikings did not back it up.
In fairness to the player, he came in front of the media on Monday and took full responsibility for his failings. Anderson was also putting on a brave face and clearly wanted to get back to the form of old right away.
"“Things aren’t always going to go in your favor and go how you expect it to, but I definitely don’t not care. It’s not cool for me, it’s not funny for me to not play to my standard or expectation. So I’m definitely going to go hard this week to get it corrected.”"
Beyond Moore and Anderson, no one saw more than three targets. Is this by design or was Sam Darnold locked in on his top two receiving threats?
Collectively, they must catch what is thrown their way and force the defense to cover more than two guys. Otherwise, it’s going to be a long season for the Panthers and their beleaguered signal-caller.
