Which quarterbacks could the Carolina Panthers potentially target to improve their fortunes not named Deshaun Watson?

The ongoing and growing speculation linking the Carolina Panthers with a trade for Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans is a divisive topic within the team’s fanbase. From a talent standpoint, there is absolutely no denying how the former Clemson star would help the organization become a postseason challenger, but this situation is not as simple as that.

Watson is still awaiting a formal conclusion to some serious legal matters. No fewer than 22 accusations of sexual misconduct have been laid at the signal-caller, which make acquiring him a risky proposition, to put it mildly.

The Panthers are clearly facing another huge decision at the quarterback position. Sam Darnold was benched at the New York Giants following another dismal display, which casts further doubt on his long-term aspirations in Carolina that might already be past the point of no return.

Carolina Panthers could look elsewhere than Deshaun Watson for QB help.

Houston is still in a strong position. They can wait for the highest bidder before the deadline or even next offseason when Watson’s off-the-field problems could have been resolved and more suitors come along to up the price.

Providing the player gets a successful outcome, which is no guarantee.

Although the Panthers are clearly keen on Watson, they do possess some additional options should the organization decide the juice is not worth the squeeze anymore.

With this in mind, here are five quarterbacks not named Watson that Carolina could target instead.
