Cam Newton – Carolina Panthers QB

I mean, who else?

The fans have asked for Cam Newton back since he was cut by the New England Patriots following the preseason and they got their wish this past week.

With how bad Sam Darnold was this year, Newton’s signing was not only surprising and a feel-good story, but it was a Carolina Panthers team that admitted maybe they gave up on him just a little too soon.

Newton didn’t start on Sunday.

But boy, did he make an impact.

From his energy on the sidelines and in the pregame, you could just see how his presence was motivating the team. Then, when Carolina was at the goalline during its first offensive drive, Newton relieved P.J. Walker and rushed for a two-yard touchdown on his first attempt.

“I’m back” he screamed. Yes, he is.

On the next Panthers offensive drive, Newton spelled Walker at the goal line again and threw a two-yard score to Robby Anderson. Just like that, Carolina was up 14-0 and it looked like Superman was back.

Newton only attempted four passes, with one incompletion. But it’s exciting to think about what he can do when he likely becomes the starter next week against the Washington Football Team.

Without Newton, this team wouldn’t have won this week. His presence changed the whole game.
