Panthers full 7-round NFL mock draft if Cam Newton stays in 2022
By Dean Jones
Emeka Emezie – WR (NC State)
If Cam Newton stays on in 2022, then the Carolina Panthers need to provide the quarterback with every possible tool to succeed. There is an abundance of weapons in the passing game to call upon, but no NFL team can ever have enough reliable pass-catchers.
Much will depend on the development of second-year players Terrace Marshall Jr. and Shi Smith. The Panthers might also choose to go with a talented college tight end to put alongside Tommy Tremble rather than scoop up another wide receiver.
Emeka Emezie is someone of interest if the Panthers choose another late-round wideout to develop in the coming years. He is a physical specimen that excels in blocking at the position, with the prospect also using his frame well to create separation.
Emezie isn’t the flashiest player entering the 2022 NFL Draft. But he does all the little things really well and has gone over 500 receiving yards in each of his last four years at North Carolina State.
The prospect is going out with a bang this season, racking up 54 receptions for 683 receiving yards and four touchdowns from 10 games.
Emezie has endured some drop problems throughout his career that need eradicating from his game. But his route-running is superb and the wideout represents a ton of value at this stage of the draft process.
