What the coaching staff is saying about Cam Newton.

The early signs coming out of the Carolina Panthers organization regarding Cam Newton’s arm are positive. Not that they would be anything different, though with such an iconic figure that they’ve had a previous history of mismanaging before his original departure.

Offensive coordinator Joe Brady did point out a couple of things that will need work as Newton ets up to speed. The arm was not one of them.

"“I’ve had no issues. I’ve seen nothing where there’s been any issues with how he’s throwing the football. He kind of showed that the other day. I think there are things we can do with timing, and footwork, and whatnot. But he was able to throw the ball effectively and push the ball down the field the other day. So there’s no issues.”"

This was a sentiment echoed by head coach Matt Rhule, who was pretty matter-of-fact when declaring that there were no issues with his new quarterback’s arm and his ability to push the football downfield when needed.

Again, this is pretty standard. Neither Rhule nor Brady are going to come out and say anything to the contrary.

But the proof will ultimately come by what Newton shows on the field and it will be interesting to see just how much the signal-caller has absorbed over the last week, which has been something of a whirlwind for everyone associated with the franchise.
