Breakout game for Robby Anderson?

There’s been a noticeable difference in Robby Anderson since the Carolina Panthers brought Cam Newton back into the fold. The wide receiver was more frustrated than most with the alarming slide of Sam Darnold, which was probably due to the fact he’d seen it all before on the New York Jets.

Anderson has a smile on his face again. Something that could become the catalyst behind a strong end to the 2021 season for the wideout.

The early signs were positive. Anderson and Newton connected on a touchdown pass in the first quarter last weekend and there might be even more to come from the duo now the Auburn product has been named the starter.

It’s no real surprise that the pair hit it off. Both are charismatic personalities that aren’t afraid to speak their mind, but what’s important for the Panthers is transitioning this onto the field.

Anderson has just 23 receptions, 243 receiving yards, three touchdowns, and a 39.9 percent success rate on targets thrown in his direction this season. Not exactly what Carolina had in mind when they gave the player a two-year extension before the campaign.

However, watching how Anderson performs with Newton as his quarterback could be the spark he needs to increase this production significantly.
