Injuries, penalties, and substandard play have been the theme of the offensive line this season. But in fairness, this patchwork group has done well over the last three games all things considered.

The Carolina Panthers are finally starting to see glimpses of what BYU product Brady Christensen is capable of on the field, and it is promising.

Many Panthers fans wish they’d also get the chance to see what Deonte Brown can do, but he is on the reserve/injured list along with Cam Erving and starting center Matt Paradis.

Only Taylor Moton is a standout athlete among the starting five. So this group’s strength must be its cohesiveness and chemistry working as a single unit.

If the Panthers can do this, they can climb up the ranks from 10th in rushing yards allowed to potentially occupy a top-five slot when it’s all said and done.

Another item of note, penalties must subside. The Panthers lead the league with 81 as a team and the line has been a major culprit at key moments.

This comes back to mental mistakes and coaching. Offensive line coach Pat Meyer needs to switch something up in the practice routine to drill this home, but there is nothing he can do about other problem areas in this regard.
