Carolina Panthers brought Cam Newton back

After two years of failed moves in the quarterback market, the Carolina Panthers went back to a man they released shortly after Matt Rhule took over as head coach.

Cam Newton‘s departure was met by widespread anger by the team’s fanbase, who felt the iconic signal-caller should have been given one last shot at proving his fitness in the final year of his deal.

Newton was also treated harshly. Whether it be the player denying a team report he’d been seeking a trade or the timing of his departure, everything surrounding this situation left a sour taste in the mouth.

Now, he’s back.

The former NFL MVP and Heisman Trophy winner has injected a fresh sense of hope across the board, wasting no time in imposing himself on the field and within the locker room.

This has been just what the doctor ordered. And credit to all parties involved for putting the past behind them and focusing on the future.

Newton is a significant upgrade on what Sam Darnold managed to produce before he was placed on the reserve/injured list. If the legendary figure continues to excel in a similar fashion to what he’s accomplished over the first two games, then this arrangement could become a long-term deal.

And everyone associated with the Panthers can be thankful Newton came home.
