New Orleans Saints

There isn’t a team in the league that makes a mockery of the salary cap more than the New Orleans Saints. According to Over the Cap, Sean Payton’s men are currently projected to be $61 million in the red heading into next season, which is absolutely astonishing considering the sacrifices they made to comply with reduced financial regulations in 2021.

That being said, the Saints have enough experience in these situations to make it work. Although a couple of prominent veterans will need to be removed early from the equation to keep them competitive.

If Mickey Loomis is able to work his magic once again, it could see New Orleans enter the race for Donte Jackson. Something that would sting the Carolina Panthers considering the divisional rivalry between the two teams.

Putting Jackson opposite Marshon Lattimore is a mouth-watering prospect for Saints fans. But they have far bigger problems than finding another stud cornerback judging by what we’ve seen from the former Super Bowl winners this season.

The Saints might decide to extend Jameis Winston for one more season and hope he can return to some sort of form following a serious knee injury. This gives them time to find a longer-term plan at quarterback and strengthen other positional groups.

Payton and Loomis have seen enough of Jackson to know how much he could help. So the Saints could be a team to watch closely.
