Carolina Panthers Pick No. 83

Tommy Tremble – TE

Although he’s still a work in progress when it comes to pass-catching, Tommy Tremble has shown enough promise to potentially be a long-term solution at the tight end position. The Carolina Panthers looked extremely pleased with themselves when they selected the Notre Dame product, with the player boasting all the athletic attributes needed to make a real go of things at the next level.

Tremble was perhaps tasked with a little too much, too soon after the Panthers after they traded Dan Arnold to the Jacksonville Jaguars as part of the C.J. Henderson deal. He would also benefit from a stable presence under center and an offensive line that provides additional time to create separation.

The player’s blocking has really caught the eye as expected at times. But playing tight end in the NFL these days requires much more and this offseason is an important one for Tremble’s development.

Through the first 12 games of the season, Tremble’s brought in 13 of 22 targets for 120 receiving yards and one touchdown. Offensive coordinator Joe Brady is barely factoring tight ends into his scheme for a second-straight year, which is a problem that needs to be rectified at the earliest possibility.

Hopes remain high for Tremble, who has the physical tools, skills, and attitude to make big-time improvements in the coming years.
