3 critical factors behind Joe Brady’s demise with the Carolina Panthers
By Dean Jones
Joe Brady’s offense was too predictable without Christian McCaffrey
Again, this factor has a lot to do with what was mentioned in No. 2. But that doesn’t escape from the fact Joe Brady’s play-calling was too predictable and something opposing defenses snuffed out pretty quickly.
When Christian McCaffrey was available, it was a completely different unit. The All-Pro’s presence in the lineup allowed Brady to be a little more creative thanks to the player’s dual-threat ability and his demand for complete attention from the opposition.
However, McCaffrey’s played just 10 times since Brady joined the Carolina Panthers. So a better plan should have been formed without the former first-round pick.
Just what Brady’s firing is going to accomplish at this late stage of the season is anybody’s guess. Jeff Wilson has worked with Matt Rhule before and knows how to implement his offensive ethos, but whether it pays off or not is another matter entirely.
As for Brady, he’ll be better for this experience. And there could be an opening in the not-too-distant future in college or the pros.
It just wasn’t meant to be in Carolina. For reasons not entirely of his own doing.
If you’re not ready, the NFL will chew you up and spit you out in a heartbeat. Something Brady now knows to his cost.
