Marquis Haynes – Carolina Panthers DE/OLB

Marquis Haynes is one of those professionals that never complains and goes about his business in an efficient manner. The edge defender hasn’t had much in the way of meaningful playing time this season thanks to the form of others on the depth chart, but the former fourth-round pick has managed to make a notable contribution during his time on the field.

Haynes is a powerful individual with nice explosiveness. This enables him to get into the backfield consistently and keeping him around is worth considering where the Carolina Panthers are concerned.

Obviously, Haason Reddick is the must-have within the front seven when it comes to an extension. The sure-fire Pro Bowler has been a shining light in Carolina this season and although it’s going to cost, the Temple product’s proven more than worthy of such a financial commitment.

It wouldn’t cost nearly as much to keep Haynes around. But the former Ole Miss star might decide to take his chances elsewhere in pursuit of additional playing time.

Solid pass-rushers are hard to find, so there should be some interest in Haynes. It’s also unlikely the Panthers will use any sort of tag on the player, which is another potential stumbling block if they wish to secure his services in 2022 and potentially beyond.

Haynes is certainly good enough to cope with more responsibility. If the Panthers re-sign Reddick, that probably won’t be in Carolina.
