What are some dream head coaching candidates for the Carolina Panthers if they decide to cut ties with Matt Rhule this offseason?

The heat is on Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule in a big way. Sunday’s loss at the New Orleans Saints was another example of that things aren’t progressing as expected, which leaves the organization at 5-11 once again with one game remaining.

It was a difficult week for the former Baylor man, who no doubt read the dam-opening article from Joe Person of The Athletic that saw team sources and other figures from across the league lambast Rhule’s methods and the current direction of the franchise.

Although multiple reporters state he could be safe for 2023, owner David Tepper might be forced into drastic action just two years into his $60 million deal.

Carolina Panthers must act swiftly one way or another.

Decisions like this are never easy. Especially considering how confident Tepper was in Rhule, to begin with. But with the early window for interviewing potential candidates already underway, Carolina risks losing out on their desired target if they wait too long.

On this subject, we created a dream list of head coaching candidates if the Panthers cut ties with Rhule this offseason.

Eric Bieniemy

This is pretty obvious, in all honesty. But just why Eric Bieniemy continues to get overlooked for head coaching roles remains a mystery.

One could speculate as to why Bieniemy doesn’t have a deserved promotion just yet. The Carolina Panthers interviewed the Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator before landing Matt Rhule – a decision they might like to have back given how things are currently progressing.

It would be nothing short of a bombshell if Bieniemy wasn’t hired this offseason. And more than a few teams might be kicking themselves – the Panthers included – when it’s all said and done.
