DaQuan Jones – Carolina Panthers DT

Acquiring DaQuan Jones was a shrewd bit of business by the Carolina Panthers. There has been far more good than bad where the defensive tackle is concerned this season and his partnership with Derrick Brown certainly looks the part at times.

Jones is a stout present against the run that brought a much-needed veteran experience on defense. Something that wasn’t entirely unexpected considering how important he became during the Tennessee Titans‘ rise to prominence.

The player made a wise move to bet on himself to a certain extent this offseason by signing a one-year deal in an uncertain financial climate across the league. Judging by his production this season, Jones might be looking for something more substantial when it’s time for his representatives to begin contract negotiations.

As stated previously, the Panthers have a lot of mouths to feed and not much in the way of spare funds to accomplish this. Although everyone knows how the cap can be manipulated one way or another.

Whether something can be worked out to keep Jones happy is up for debate. But the Panthers would be wise to put in a reasonable offer they feel is acceptable.

If not, then Jones could be about to embark on his final game for the Panthers at Raymond James Stadium.
